It's the winter of 1954, and nine-year-old Mira defies her parents' prohibition to slide on the icy river. She falls into the water and is punished by not receiving a dessert at the family celebration. However, this innocent childhood incident turns out to be a significant turning point in Mira's life. A tragedy follows that binds her for many years to her silent and depressive Aunt Hana and reveals a troubled family history. Why does Hana cowardly shut herself off in her own world? Why does she hide her past from her niece, a past that could make her a heroine? Will it be possible to dissolve the dark circle in the family history?
